What is IPL?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light, a multiwave form of laser. IPL excels at treating rosacea, sun damage, redness, dilated veins and fine lines. Do you have sun spots, freckles, spider veins or generalized redness that you would love to improve? If so, IPL is for you.

What areas can IPL treat?

The most commonly-treated areas are the face, chest, and hands.

What can I expect during my IPL treatment?

Prior to your first treatment, Dr. Tkatch will evaluate your skin for suitability for IPL and do a medical exam to rule out any concern of skin cancer in any pigmented lesions. The certified medical laser esthetician or Registered Nurse will perform a SkinTel melanin reading on your skin to ensure safe treatment parameters. The skin will be thoroughly cleansed prior to treatment. The medical esthetician will monitor your comfort throughout the treatment. Many people describe the sensation as if a rubber band is being snapped against the skin. At the completion of your treatment it may feel as if you have a sunburn for a few hours.

What can I expect after my IPL treatment?

You may have temporary swelling. Pigmented areas will darken over several days and develop a “coffee ground” appearance before flaking off. Red areas will initially deepen and then normalize. You can carry on all normal activities and look forward to clear, beautiful skin.

How many IPL treatments will I need?

We recommend a series of 3, each a month apart, for optimal results. You will need a maintenance treatment every 6 to 12 months. A great skin care program will help maintain your improvement and we will show you how to care for your skin at home.

How much do IPL treatments cost?

We charge $500 per face treatment and $1,500 for a series of three treatments. Every series of 3 IPLs receives a bonus Deluxe HydraFacial, valued at $275.
