Combat excessive sweating with Botox therapeutic injections

Is excessive sweating embarrassing you? Do you find that you are sweating regardless of the temperature and your emotional state? You may have a condition called hyperhidrosis, commonly referred to as “excessive sweating.” Dr. Shelin Tkatch and her team at MD Wellness Solutions can educate you on hyperhidrosis and what can be done to resolve it.

What are the symptoms of hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a unique but common medical condition that causes excessive sweating, including the following concerns:

  • Are sweat stains ruining your clothing?
  • Are you worried about body odour?
  • Do you dislike having to use aluminum chloride antiperspirants?
  • Do you have to repeatedly change your clothes or shower to cope with excessive sweating?
  • Do your hands sweat until they drip?
  • Do your feet sweat so much that taking off your shoes is embarrassing?

If you have been diagnosed with hyperhidrosis, consider speaking to Dr. Tkatch about the benefits of Botox therapeutic injections. Botox can help you stay dry and cool for up to six months before retreatment is needed.

What should I expect during my Botox for hyperhidrosis treatment?

If we are treating your underarms, please shave the area a day or two earlier to allow the doctor to see the treatment area easily.

Numbing will be applied and you will be offered inhaled nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help relax you before a series of injections with very tiny needles to deliver the Botox to the sweat glands. Nitrous oxide is a very safe inhaled pain reducer that wears off within 5 minutes, allowing you to drive yourself home.  Within two weeks, your sweating will be dramatically reduced, and your confidence will soar! Expect to want twice yearly treatments to stay sweat free.

What does Botox for hyperhidrosis treatment cost?

The injection fee to the physician is $379. Your extended health care plan may cover the cost of the prescription Botox medication. If you do not have a comprehensive health care plan, the cost of filling the Botox prescription at your local pharmacy will be in the range of $900. In addition, Botox treatment by a physician for hyperhidrosis is an eligible medical expense that can be claimed on your tax return.
